'Alice in Wonderland' ~ miniature artist book
Studio clearance listing - for book collectors
The last bookbinding I completed before concluding the chapter of book art in my life. This is a miniature volume of Alice in Wonderland, with a fully readable printed text (by the Miniature Classics Library) for which I have created a one-of-a-kind presentation, all the way from sewing the pages by hand, followed by all further traditional stages of making a full leatherbound book. For those who know bookbinding terminology, the details include sprinkled edge decoration, blind-tooled full leather doublures and hand-sewn silk headbands. The book has two closure strings with Hematite adornments and comes with two small, antique pewter containers: one with a parchment label inscribed "Eat Me" and the other "Drink Me". The book and the containers are housed in a black leather pouch that has a crochet rim (before crocheting, I tinted the thread with botanical eco-dye methods). The drawstring pouch string ends in a small pocket clock face.
Outer dimensions of the book: 6.5cm x 5.5cm. Leather pouch diameter when closed, with items inside: 9cm.
You'll receive this one-of-a-kind collector book gift-wrapped and securely packaged for the postal journey.
