I revelled in the beauty of the archipelago of western Finland once again, and this summer enjoyed discovering what kind of colours and prints I might get from the local plants. The plants surrounding the summer cottage where we stay every year are very much “home plants” for me. I know them from my childhood and it was a very special feeling to be working with them in this way for the first time. My only regret was that I didn’t bring enough silk with me, and in the end, decided to re-bundle a couple of dyed silks for another boil. Especially the wind fall lichen gave wonderful deep orange colour, in addition to its textural prints.
