Ash wood token with runic Tree of Life
DESCRIPTION
This is a talismanic token in ash wood, featuring the World Tree (Yggdrasil) which I've designed to include all 24 Elder Futhark runes, together forming this Yggdrasil shape.
The three roots of the Yggdrasil tree in this token are Raidho, Inguz and Uruz, with the trunk extending up from Inguz through runes Ihwaz, Laguz, Algiz, Wunjo and Fehu, reaching Dagaz at the top. The nine dots around the tree shape signify the nine worlds in Norse mythology. Around the rim of the token are the eight petroglyph symbols that feature in the Spirit Carrier oracle cards - clockwise from the top: sun, raven, shaman, kota (dwelling), moon, crystal (chestahedron), ship and reindeer.
In Norse mythology, ash wood is deeply symbolic and represents Yggdrasil, the World Tree that connects the nine realms. It's associated with life, death, and rebirth, as well as with the first humans, Ask (man) and Embla (woman), who were created from ash and elm wood in Norse lore. The ash tree, even beyond Yggdrasil, is seen as a spiritual beacon that symbolises life's interconnectedness and serves as a spiritual guide.
This token is 4 mm thick and 4 cm (1.6") in diameter. It was first given as a gratitude gift for all who helped me bring the Spirit Carrier oracle into existence, and I'm offering here the few extra pieces that I have remaining for anyone who might like this on their runic altar for example.
