Here's a unique object of art, a small one-of-a-kind treasure that could be used as a magic grimoire, a special journal or diary to record your innermost musing, manifestations, dreams and wishes. It can be nested in the double-pouch, either displayed or tucked away as your private diary.

The book has 192 pages (96 leaves) of unlined, archival acid-free paper in 105 gsm thickness. The dimensions of the book are 9.5 cm tall, 7.5 cm wide and 2 cm thick (3.7" x 3" x 0.8")

"Gem of a Book" is a sculptural, mixed media piece that embodies the seamless blend of traditional bookbinding techniques with contemporary jewellery making skills. This work represents the fusion of two distinct crafts, merging the meticulous precision of bookbinding with the intricate artistry of jewellery design. In creating this piece, I utilised classic bookbinding methods to construct the small, jewel-like book, ensuring it retained the integrity and craftsmanship of traditional techniques. The book is housed in a decorative round double pouch: the outer being cork, the inner being cotton, incorporating contemporary jewellery making techniques in its accents of crystals and pewter. These visual and tactile details are further echoed in the intricately knotted threads on the spine of the book and the organic pewter shapes on the front cover of the book. The colour scheme extends from the pouch to the book through inks in shades of pink, red, blue, and gold, all melding together in the threads and crystals to create a harmonious whole. This blending of colours and materials highlights the core theme of the piece: the integration of two art forms to create something unique and cohesive. "Gem of a Book" reflects the beauty and potential that arises from combining diverse artistic skills, showcasing how traditional and contemporary methods can coexist and complement each other.
